Honolulu: Activities & Attractions

  • » Oahu's Honolulu has a variety of activities and attractions to explore during your visit, yet here are a few that offer a memorable experience for years to come.
  • » Sea Life Park Hawaii
Smack dab in the midst of the magnificent Ko'olau Mountains and the picturesque Makapu'u Beach is the Sea Life Park. Peruse and interact with some of Hawaii's finest dolphins and other fascinating marine life. Say hello to some cuddly penguins, and then drift through the water with stingrays at Sea Life Discovery Interactive. Smooch it up with affable sea lions at the Sea Lion Discovery Swim. Experience the Dolphin Adventure as you ride atop a cheery dolphin, or hug and chat with them at Dolphin Discovery Swim. Walk underwater through the Hawaiian Reef Tank on the Sea Trek Adventure and wink at some crazy eels. Watch an incredible dolphin show as you feast upon delectable Hawaiian food at the Sea Life Luau.
  • » South East Scenic Drive
If you have a rental car, the ocean views and towering cliffs along Oahu's well-preserved east coast offer an incredible drive. From Waikiki, take H-1 and head to the North Shore, famous for its gargantuan storm-induced waves during the winter months. (Seasonal weather patterns flatten out the sea and shift the high surf to other points on the island.) Along the way you'll journey past downtown Honolulu and all its glory.

Connect with the H-2 and cruise on into Hale'iwa town, known for its bistros, shops and some of the best mahi-mahi in all of Oahu. Further in, you can explore the North Shore Surf and Cultural Museum for a dollop of surfing history. Then take Kamehameha Highway to one of the most well-known surf locales in the world - Waimea Bay - and spend the rest of the day basking in the beauty this incredible oceanfront spectacle.
